Harmonia Honored For Second Time as Tibbetts Award Winner

Washington, D.C. – Harmonia Holdings Group, LLC, has been selected as one of the winners of the 2013 Tibbetts Awards. Harmonia received the award at the White House. Named for Roland Tibbetts—the person acknowledged as the father of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program—these prestigious, national awards are made annually to those judged to exemplify the very best in SBIR achievement. Harmonia is one of a handful of companies to receive this award. It was selected from over 4,000 companies that receive contract/grants under the SBIR Program each year. Harmonia received this award for its work sponsored by NAVSUP on the NavyPal program, which is an innovative solution for cashless payment aboard ship.  It is loosely named to be an analog of the popular PayPal system but for use on Navy ships. It is currently being used on the Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) and targeted next for the USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) class destroyer.  The NavyPal solution develops an alternative to the legacy Navy Cash system that (1) meets basic business requirements of allowing sailors to make purchases on ship without cash and then settling those charges on shore, (2) reduces significantly Total Cost of Ownership, (3) reduces afloat workload, (4) ensures security and privacy of financial transactions, and (5) improves quality of life for sailors by providing a personal finance manager and feedback anytime on what they have spent in each budget category on a ship. Harmonia Holdings Group, LLC is a small, disadvantaged, woman-owned, qualified HUBZone company building cutting edge technology solutions to today’s problems and providing Information Technology (IT) services, staffing, and management. It has worked with several Federal agencies such as the Air Force, Army, DARPA, DOE, DOT, FAA, MDA, NASA, NAVAIR, NAVSEA, ONR, OSD, SPAWAR, NIH, SBA, USDA, and several large orgnaizations such as General Dynamics, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, Harvard, etc. Harmonia is fortunate to have received recognitions/awards including a previous Tibbetts Awards (2007), recognized as Fast 50 Asian American Companies (2013), featured in Forbes magazine (2013), ranks on the Inc magazine 5000 list for 4 years in a row (2009 – 2012), honored as one of the Top 12 to Watch small businesses in Virginia by the U.S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award Program (2011), recognized as the ‘Technical Trailblazer’ government contractor (2011), and named Smart100 in Washington DC (2009).
